Police seek two men in stabbing of 17-year-old boy (Corpus Christi, TX): Two men are being sought by police in connection with the gang-related stabbing of a 17-year-old teen at an apartment complex. According to witnesses, two men, 18 to 20 years old, were seen circling the property in an SUV.

Police arrest two juveniles in taxi driver's death (Marietta, GA): Two gang members, ages 14 and 16, were arrested for fatally shooting a 53-year-old taxicab driver, police said. The driver gave a ride to the two teenagers, and was later found slumped over the steering wheel after being shot. Police believe that robbery was the motive for the killing.

Cops hunt for armed robbery suspects (Central New Jersey): Two men, ages 18 and 24, were questioned in connection with five armed robberies that left two injured in the Central Jersey area. The robberies took place at a gas station and four fast-food restaurants in Bound Brook, North Plainfield, and Piscataway. The New Jersey State Police Street Gang Unit are investigating whether the robberies are gang-related, perhaps an initiation ritual for members, according to police.

Two men shot in drive-by shooting (Riviera Beach, FL): In Riviera Beach, two men in their 20s and 30s were wounded during a drive-by shooting, police said. Both men were in serious condition. Police have a description of the suspects' vehicle, and the investigation is continuing.

Freeport teen is injured in gang-related attack (Freeport, NY): A 17-year-old boy was critically injured during a possible gang-related incident, according to police reports. Four men, alleged MS-13 members, got out of a car and approached three young men. The alleged members informed the other group of their gang affiliation and asked them to identify themselves. The young men being taunted went to a nearby house and armed themselves with a sickle and sledgehammer. When the 17-year-old came back out, the suspects' car accelerated and slammed into the teen. The suspects fled the scene. Police have not made any arrests.

Two men charged in death of Anchorage teen (Anchorage, AK) : Two men, ages 26 and 19, were arrested and charged with second-degree murder in a May 18 shooting that left a 15-year-old boy dead. Police said the boy was caught in the crossfire of what was believed to be a gang-related shooting.

Bus stop (Venice, CA): An alleged gang-related shooting at a Venice bus stop killed a 23-year-old man and critcally wounded a 52-year-old woman, according to police. The suspect, believed to be a Santa Monica gang member, fired multiple shots at the bus stop in what police say was a retaliation shooting.

Law enforcement agencies join forces to find gang members (Fresno, CA): A two-week special operation involving more than 200 officers from the Fresno Police Department, the Multi-Agency Gang Enforcement Consortium, the Fresno County Sheriff's Department, the California Highway Patrol, and other agencies will take part in the Gang Suppression Task Force 2003. The goal of this operation is to sweep streets and areas where gang members are prominent. So far this year, 15 shootings and one stabbing were gang-related. One resulted in a homicide. About 55 gangs with 6,000 members exist in Fresno.

Man sitting in car, wounded in drive-by (Escondido, CA): Police are investigating a drive-by shooting that wounded an 18-year-old man in Escondido. The victim was sitting in his parked car when a small car drove past him, turned around, and passed him again, police said. A passenger then fired and hit the victim twice. The victim did not suffer any life-threatening wounds, and police have made no arrests.

Elgin shooting (Elgin, IL): Police are investigating a possible gang-related shooting that damaged a home in Elgin. Several bullets were fired at the home, but no one was injured. Police have not reported any suspects.

Goodyear Avenue man wounded in drive-by shooting (Buffalo, NY): An 18-year-old man was wounded during a drive-by shooting, police said. The man, who was treated and released for his wounds, was shot when a man in a vehicle pulled up, stood up in his sunroof, and fired about five shots. No other information was available.

Street stakeout nets gang, fugitive arrests (Midtown, TN): Shelby County sheriff's deputies and Memphis police arrested 30 people and issued 104 traffic violations in the Evergreen area in Midtown, according to officials. This was an effort to target fugitives and others involved in gang-related crimes.

Barber shop dispute ends with one dead (Denver, CO): A 22-year-old man was shot and killed in what police are saying was a gang-related shooting. The victim and the shooter were in a barbershop when they began to argue. As the argument continued outside, the suspect got in his vehicle and opened fire as the victim walked down the sidewalk. Police had difficulty when questioning the witnesses because of fear of retaliation.

Teen wounded in drive-by shooting (Oklahoma City, OK): A 17-year-old male was critically wounded after a drive-by shooting in northeast Oklahoma City, police said. The victim was a passenger in a car when someone in another vehicle fired several shots. Police do not know the motive of the shooting.

Signs point to increase in gang activity (Plant City, FL): Officials in Hillsborough County and Plant City have seen an increase in gang-related graffiti on buildings throughout the area. The markings by gangs such as SUR13, North14, and others have been seen on church buildings, signs, and city recreational facilities. In the past year, Plant City has had two gang incidents. In the first incident, rival Puerto Rican gangs were involved in wounding an 18-year-old who was shot several times, police said. A 16-year-old was charged with attempted murder in that case. In the second incident, an 18-year-old male was gunned down in a parking lot. A 13-year-old was charged with murder in that gang-related incident.

Gang member shot while pumping gas, dies (Minneapolis, MN): A 20-year-old Rolling 30s Bloods gang member suffered fatal wounds while pumping gas in south Minneapolis. Sources say he appeared to be the intended target of the shooting. No other information was available.

Gunman kills gang leader, police say (Chicago, IL): Chicago police are investigating a shooting in a West Side barbershop that left a 30-year-old Latin King leader dead. The barbershop is located in an area controlled by the Vice Lords, a rival gang. Another man in the barbershop, who was shot in the foot, was able to provide police with details of the suspect. The gunman then fled the barbershop and continued shooting as he ran through a small parking lot. Another man was shot and wounded. Tactical units were deployed in areas where police thought there could be retaliation.

Shooting may be tied to others (Tulsa, OK): A 23-year-old man died and three 20-year-old men were wounded in a drive-by shooting that may be related to eight homicides which have occurred since March 29, police said. The four men were at an intersection when occupants in another car pulled up and fired shots for "no known reason," police said, quoting the victims. Although some of the people involved in the shooting have gang ties, police are not saying that the shooting is gang-related. "There is a real potential for other motives," an officer said.

Man shot in foot on East Prater Way in Sparks (Sparks, NV): Police are investigating a possible gang-related shooting that wounded a 22-year-old man in Sparks. The victim was walking with his brother when a gunman, in a group of about six men, fired four or five shots, police said. The victim was treated at a hospital and released.

Apparent drive-by in south Minneapolis injures one (Minneapolis, MN): In south Minneapolis, an occupant of a car was injured after more than two-dozen gunshots were fired in a drive-by shooting, witnesses said. The victim left the scene in an ambulance. No further information was available.
