Gang Shooting (Los Angeles, CA): A gang-related walk-up attack in Pacoima left an 18-year-old man dead and two others injured. The two surviving victims were taken to local hospitals. Los Angeles Police Department has released no further details.

Peoria man killed in city's first 2003 homicide (Peoria, IL): A 26-year-old man was shot in the head while another man, a 22-year-old, was in serious condition at a local hospital in Peoria after being shot in the head also. Police said that the 26-year-old was affiliated with the Black P-Stones, a Chicago-area street gang that also has members throughout the Midwest, but it has not yet been determined whether the shooting was gang-related.

Brothers killed near bar (Las Vegas, NV): Two brothers were fatally shot in the morning hours of March 22nd in the parking lot of a Las Vegas bar. One brother was found dead inside a car and the other just outside of the vehicle. At least two other gang-related slayings have occurred at the lounge or in its parking lot. Police have not named any suspects.

Piru man dies after dispute (Fillmore, CA): In Fillmore, California, a 27-year-old man died during a gang-related confrontation, according to authorities. The victim may have been stabbed and beaten after he and another person were involved in a confrontation with two others. Police have no suspects yet, but were questioning a witness.

Elgin man arrested for chain attack (Elgin, IL): Elgin police arrested and charged an 18-year-old male gang member for aggravated battery when he attacked another man with a chain. The victim suffered lacerations to his back and neck, according to the report.

Public Enemy No. 1 (Salt Lake City, UT): A 23-year-old member of an Asian gang is being sought by the Salt Lake area metro gang unit for attempted homicide during a drive-by shooting. The gang member was sitting in the passenger seat of a car that pulled up next to another car and fired several shots. No one was injured in this incident.

Authorities seek three men in shooting death in Huron (Huron, CA): Fresno County sheriff's detectives are seeking three men who are believed to be involved with the shooting death of a 33-year-old man. The shooting was precipitated by a beer bottle and rock-throwing fight between the victim and suspects. Authorities say that this was a gang-related confrontation. They have made no arrests, and witnesses have only given them limited information.

Gang crime drop credited to program (Sun Valley, CA): A neighborhood prosecutor program and active citizen involvement are being credited for a 32 percent drop in the gang crime rate near Sun Valley Middle School. Between January and March 2003, there have been no homicides and a decrease of 38 serious crimes from last year. Part of the success of this program is residents doing their part by reporting suspicious activities so that local authorities can focus their patrol. Another asset has been a newly-installed surveillance camera to identify gang members spraying graffiti in alleys, dealing drugs on corners, and harassing students on sidewalks going to and from school.

Young man killed in drive-by attack (Richmond, VA): In a drive-by shooting on the evening of March 18th, a man in his late teens or early 20s, was fatally shot with a semi-automatic rifle, police said. The motive of the slaying has not yet been determined.

Gang shooting kills two, including a bystander (Los Angeles, CA): In a gang-related shooting on March 14, two men, including a bystander, were killed and a third was wounded. The three victims were standing streetside when a car pulled up; two men got out and started shooting at one of the men who police believe to be the intended target. The other two victims appeared to be bystanders and not gang members.

Teen Killed (Long Beach, CA): A 14-year-old boy was fatally shot in a gang-related attack according to Long Beach police. The boy and his friends were walking down a local street when the shooting occurred. Police have no other details or descriptions of the suspects.

Twenty-three charged after Easton area brawl (Easton, PA): About two-dozen students were charged with disorderly conduct and two others with more serious charges on March 17th, after a brawl that broke out in the gym lobby of Easton High School. Investigation is underway to see if the incident was gang-related. No injuries were reported, but two administrators trying to suppress the activity were knocked down during the melee. Police believe that the incident could have been sparked by a fight the previous week between two groups of students.

Three men shot in Plainfield in gang-related dispute (Plainfield, NJ): A gang-related shooting involving about 30 members from the East Sixth Street Posse and the Clinton Avenue gangs led to heightened security in local area schools. Two 18-year-olds were shot in the legs and the third victim, a 21-year-old, was shot in the shoulder. All are expected to recover. Police said that this incident was retaliation for the fatal shooting of a 15-year-old male that occurred a few days earlier.

Shooting leads to pot bust (Rockford, IL): Rockford police officials are calling a drive-by shooting a drug deal gone bad. They seized more than 100 pounds of marijuana from one of the vehicles involved. At least 17 shots were fired by one, possibly two, vehicles, but no one has been reported injured. A man and a woman have been arrested, and police are still looking for three suspects.

Man found slain at boat ramp was subject of police investigation (Columbia, TN): In the early morning hours of March 16th, at a boat ramp near the Duck River, Maury County investigators found the body of a 30-year-old man who had been shot to death. Police said the shooting was likely gang-related and the victim had a lengthy history of criminal involvement.

One dead, one injured in drive-by shooting (San Francisco, CA): Three suspects allegedly killed one person and wounded another in a drive-by shooting that police suspect was gang-related. The shooting took place at a bus stop in the Mission District of San Francisco.

Hollenbeck shooting (Los Angeles, CA): Los Angeles police reported that a man was critically wounded in a gang-related drive-by shooting southeast of downtown, but would most likely survive. The victim was shot in the back and both legs.
