One killed, three wounded in Tulsa shooting (Tulsa, OK): Tulsa police are investigating a fatal shooting that happened Wednesday night in north Tulsa. Officers are now saying the shooting was gang-related. Police say they've responded to the home before because of other gang activity.

Bloods gang member in Nashville sentenced to eight years in prison (Washignton, DC): A Bloods gang member was sentenced today in Nashville, Tenn., to eight years in prison for participating in racketeering activity related to his membership in the Bloods criminal enterprise, announced Assistant Attorney General Lanny A. Breuer of the Justice Department’s Criminal Division and United States Attorney Jerry E. Martin for the Middle District of Tennessee.

Hiring officers to combat youth crime stalls in council (Macon, GA): One of the first concrete proposals for dealing with an outbreak of youth violence stalled in a Macon City Council committee Monday. An ordinance, sponsored by the mayor’s office, to spend $300,000 on hiring six police officers was tabled in the council’s Public Safety Committee after two hours of lengthy, often meandering speeches from council members.
