City councilor says ABQ wasted money on gang database (Albuquerque, NM): An Albuquerque city councilor said taxpayers wasted their money paying for a gang database that never got off the ground. Albuquerque taxpayers started paying for the online Gang Member Registry database in 2007. Anytime a gang-member was arrested on any charge, after serving their time, they were expected to register their name, vehicle description and license number with the city. From there, the information was supposed to be made public. But now, nearly a decade later, there is not a single name listed.
