Newport News unveils more details of anti-gang plan (Newport News, VA): A new initiative to combat gangs in Newport News would cost $300,000 in upfront costs and $145,000 per year in ongoing costs, according to Tuesday's report by Mayor McKinley Price. The $300,000 would help pay for a new $1 million multipurpose athletic field at the former South Morrison Elementary School.

German tourist murder suspects indicted by San Francisco grand jury (San Francisco, CA): A criminal grand jury has indicted six people for the fatal 2010 shooting of a German woman visiting The City. Mechthild Schröer, 50, was walking with her husband at Mason and Geary streets near Union Square on Aug. 8 when prosecutors say she was caught in a gunbattle between rival gang members.

Prosecutor targeting Baltimore Street Gang (Baltimore, MD): Butler County Prosecutor Mike Gmoser said his office plans to "dismember and dismantle" the Baltimore Street Gang.
