Five defendants arraigned in Five Guys robbery; gang intimidation claimed (White Plains, NY): A parolee who was hired as a cook at Five Guys Burgers & Fries in White Plains told police that a gang member intimidated him to be the inside man for a June 30 gunpoint robbery of the new downtown eatery.

Police officials note gang crime decline (Long Beach, CA) : Early statistics show extreme gang violence is on the decline this year, law enforcement officials say. According to Long Beach Police Department numbers, gang-related shootings have decreased by 30.7% (56 through mid-July versus 84 last year through the same time in 2010) and gang-related murders have decreased by 37.5% (5 versus 12 during same periods).

Greenville residents speak up about police gang suppression plan (Greenville, NC): The recent gang violence has Greenville residents like Andre Dixon calling for change. "It's crazy, it's crazy and I believe the police department and the mayor need to do something about it," Dixon said. Atwater: No evidence of school gang activity (Tifton, GA): The local schools aren’t experiencing a lot of gang activity. The most common thing would be graffiti. The Tift County Board of Education has zero tolerance for gang activity in the schools.
