Boy, 16, shot in Salinas (Salinas, CA): A 16-year-old boy was hospitalized in serious condition tonight after being shot on an East Salinas street, police said. The boy was taken to a San Francisco Bay Area hospital after what police said was a gang-related attempted murder.

Albemarle police report drop in gang activity (Albemarle County, VA): Albemarle County police are reporting less criminal activity from the ZOG, or Zoo of Goons, gang. One month ago, police broke up two incidents of disorderly teens fighting near Albemarle High School. In the first, two teens were allegedly injured at Charlotte Yancey Humpries Park by a group that identifies with the ZOG gang. A day later, a group of unruly teens identified themselves as ZOG members.

Richmond staff uncooperative with police after melee (Richmond, CA): Three days after a gang brawl splattered blood across the walls and floors of a Richmond city office, police cannot identify suspects or even victims -- because their city co-workers will not cooperate in the investigation. Documents obtained by Bay Area News Group show that Richmond police failed to retrieve that basic information Friday from staff at the Office of Neighborhood Safety, which police described as "stonewalling" in their reports.
