FBI says gang activity in El Paso, West Texas focuses on drug activity (El Paso, TX): Gang activity in El Paso and West Texas is focused mostly on drug trafficking, FBI El Paso officials said. "El Paso is very unique in our gang activity," FBI Supervisory Special Agent Paul Davis said. "It's very different than Chicago, different than New York due to us being along the border. It presents an opportunity for every gang member to basically have direct connections to drug suppliers along the border."

TexasTeen killed, brother wounded in shooting (Houston, TX): A drive-by shooting in the Acres Homes community killed a 17-year-old boy and wounded his older brother, police said. The brothers and their friends were standing outside when a car drove up, and someone got out of the back of the car and shot at them. Police have no suspects in the case.

LouisianaFour hurt in drive-by shooting (New Orleans, LA): A 14-year-old boy and three men, ages 18, 26, and 34, were wounded in a drive-by shooting at a Central City barber shop, police said. Three of the victims were in the shop and one was standing outside, when someone began firing into the shop from a passing vehicle. None of the wounds were life-threatening and the investigation is on-going.

New YorkTwo treated in Erie County Medical Center after drive-by (Buffalo, NY): A drive-by shooting on Buffalo's East Side left two men, ages 28 and 35, in serious condition as they were leaving a bar, investigators said. No suspects have been found and investigation is on-going.

New JerseyPolice say arrests stop drug network (Paterson, NJ): Seven people, including alleged ringleaders, were arrested after authorities ended a gang-related cocaine and heroin distribution network. "These individuals were targeted because of their affiliation with the Bloods gang," said a spokesman from the Passaic County Sheriff's Department. The seven arrested ranged in ages from 23 to 42.

MississippiDrive-by shooting in Biloxi misses target (Biloxi, MS): Three men, ages 18, 19, and 20, were arrested and charged with shooting into an occupied dwelling and five counts of aggravated assault. Authorities say the drive-by shooting was allegedly over an argument that eventually led to several shots fired. Five people standing outside a home were believed to be the targets of the shooting. A patrol officer a few blocks from the shooting apprehended the suspects and their car after they had fled the scene of crime.

CaliforniaAlleged gang member arrested in Los Angeles area shooting of NFL prospect (Duarte, CA): Police have arrested a reputed gang member in connection with a drive-by shooting that wounded a top NFL draft prospect. The 25-year-old suspect was seized after Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies served a search warrant at a residence. Several weapons, including an assault rifle, were seized.

New YorkTwo charged in Mohegan Lake drive-by shooting (Mohegan Lake, NY): Two 27-year-old males are facing second-degree attempted-murder charges for a drive-by shooting in the Mohegan Lake area, state police said. The two men were targeting an individual, but authorities say that no one was injured in the shooting.

ArizonaAttacked mourners return fire (Tolleson, AZ): A drive-by shooting at a funeral home resulted in an exchange of gunfire, police reported. About 75 were in attendance at a funeral when a car drove by and fired shots. Some mourners fired back at the vehicle, but no one was reported injured. Officials were unable to say if the incident was gang-related.

CaliforniaMan shot driving on Hwy. 101 in East San Jose (San Jose, CA): A 19-year-old man was shot while driving on Highway 101 in East San Jose, California. Police believe the shooting was gang-related, and the wounds suffered by the victim were not considered life-threatening. No arrests have been made.

ConnecticutPolice investigating whether home invasions are gang-related (Torrington and West Hartford, CT): Torrington and West Hartford police are working together to determine whether recent home invasions in their cities are related and involve Asian gang members. On April 30, three Asian men broke into a Torrington home, tied up a resident, and stole some cash. A week earlier, an Asian family in West Hartford was victimized in a home robbery that left two children and their nanny tied up. Lastly, two weeks ago, a Vietnamese woman scuffled with intruders who allegedly attempted a robbery.

New MexicoRoswell police arrest one man in murder case (Roswell, NM): A 21-year-old male was arrested on an open count of murder in a gang-related shooting that killed a 22-year-old man. Police believe there may have been another man involved with the shooting. He is being sought by police.

OregonTeen shot by masked men in break-in (Northeast Portland, OR): A 15-year-old boy was shot when two men broke into a home in Northeast Portland. The two men kicked down the door to the home and confronted a 23-year-old female, demanding money. Police said a younger brother was shot multiple times when he tried to intervene. Investigators say the shooting may have been drug or gang-related. The suspects are still being sought.

CaliforniaMen fire on youths, wounds teen boy (Fresno, CA) : In a Central Fresno neighborhood known for having a chronic gang problem, an 18-year-old boy was struck by a bullet while running for shelter from two men who fired several shots from their vehicle. The two suspects, believed to be in their 20's, remain at large, and police are trying to determine whether they are gang members.

New YorkYonkers man shot (Yonkers, NY): Police said a 23-year-old man was wounded when four men in a vehicle drove up to him, and someone fired at least seven shots at him. The victim's injuries did not appear to be life-threatening. No motive has been determined for the shooting.

IllinoisFour teenagers wounded in West Side shooting (Chicago, IL): Four teens, ages 14, 16, 17, and 18, were wounded in a gang-related shooting on the West Side of Chicago, police said. All four were taken to local hospitals. No arrests have been made, and police have no suspects.

CaliforniaHollenbeck shooting (Boyle Heights, CA): A motorist was fatally shot in what police believe was a gang-related attack in Boyle Heights, California. The man was approached by two men while his car was stopped or slowed down. At least one of the men opened fire, and then both fled the scene. The suspects are still being sought.

New YorkShooting leaves one dead, three injured (Syracuse, NY): A 14-year-old boy was killed, and three other persons wounded in a shooting at an eastside apartment complex. Police said that a man drove into the apartment complex, got out of the vehicle, and charged at the victims firing a handgun. The motive of the shooting could not be determined. No arrests have been made.

OregonGang attacks, stabs man; one arrested (Salem, OR): A 23-year-old man was stabbed multiple times at his Salem home in a gang-related attack that involved 10 to 15 people, police said. One adult was arrested and charged with rioting. Investigation is ongoing, and police are declining to release any further information.

California16 arrested in big gang sweep (Oxnard and Ventura, CA): More than a dozen law enforcement agencies from Long Beach to Santa Maria were involved in a massive law enforcement sweep that resulted in the arrest of 16 suspected members, ages between 18 to 44, from an Oxnard Gang. A three-month investigation and weeks of preparation led authorities to 26 residences: 25 in Oxnard and one in Ventura. Six people were charged with felonies and 10 with misdemeanors.

CaliforniaGunfire in Buena Park wounds 4-year-old boy (Buena Park, CA): A 4-year-old boy was shot during a drive-by shooting while walking with his sister to their Buena Park home. Police say that the shooting may have been targeted at two men riding their bicycles, and possibly gang-related. A 16-year-old boy had been arrested for the shooting, but police released him due to lack of evidence.
