IndianaDecember Shooting In Brownsburg Was Gang-Related (Brownsburg, IN): A shooting in Brownsburg that left a teenager dead was gang-related. That’s according to court documents that say the Hendricks County prosecutor is charging four people with murder. Freddie Hegwood died on Dec. 15, 2020. Hegwood and another individual, identified only by initials in court documents, were in a car in a Brownsburg subdivision when shots were fired from another passing car.

SaskatchewanGraffiti believed to be gang-related (Meadow Lake, SK): On May 11 shortly before 7 p.m., Meadow Lake RCMP stopped a vehicle after it had left a residence known for gang activity. The male driver was a suspended driver and subsequently arrested and searched. Police seized several grams of cocaine and $650 in cash from the driver along with a digital scale, a cell phone, and a canister of bear spray.

SaskatchewanIndian Posse gang member’s appeal for lighter prison sentence denied (Saskatoon, SK): A Saskatoon street gang member convicted in 2019 of torturing a rival gang member lost his appeal to have his prison sentence reduced. Indian Posse Matthew Junior Gamble, 36, wanted his 7.5-year prison sentence reduced to five years, based on Gladue factors.

According to Police Commissioner Dermot Shea, police officers arrived at the scene near Madison and Broadway following a report of shots fired.

IowaGunna Gang Affiliate Sentenced to 20 Years in Prison (Des Moines, IA): Today a federal judge sentenced Dreshon Rene Frazier, age 25, of Des Moines, to 20 years in prison for drug and gun crimes. Frazier had previously pleaded guilty to Conspiracy to Distribute Marijuana, Possession of a Firearm in Furtherance of a Drug Trafficking Crime, and Felon in Possession of a Firearm.

ColoradoThree arrested in Pueblo for gun and gang-related charges (Pueblo, CO): Pueblo Police arrested three men connected to several gun and gun related incidents, including multiple drive-by shootings. Detectives made the arrest on Wednesday, May 12. All three were taken into custody without incident and booked into the Pueblo County Detention Center.

The suspect wounded Police Officer Brian McGurran as he allegedly fired at him and two of his colleagues assigned to the 81st Precinct during an attempted stop near Saratoga Park, at the corner of Macon Street and Howard Avenue in Bedford-Stuyvesant.

CaliforniaNovato man convicted in gang murder of student (Novato, CA): A former Novato High School student was convicted Thursday in a gang ambush that killed one classmate and nearly killed another. The jury found Juan Carlos Martinez Henriquez, 22, guilty of murder, attempted murder and mayhem, according to the district attorney’s office. He faces a potential sentence of 25 years to life in state prison.

CaliforniaSanger gang-member arrested for murder at Fresno apartment complex, police say (Fresno, CA): A 24-year-old gang member from Sanger was arrested following the death of a man outside a Fresno apartment complex on March 17, according to police. Officers say 39-year-old Orlando Gonzalez was found suffering from a gunshot wound on the 5200 block of E. Wildflower Lane in Fresno.

Rhode IslandShootout between rival groups in Providence leaves 9 hurt (Providence, RI): Police said nine people were injured Thursday when two rival groups exchanged gunfire in a Providence neighborhood. Police described the mass shooting as the largest in city history. Col. Hugh Clements told NBC 10's Gene Valicenti that eight people were shot and that one was injured by shards of glass.

CaliforniaActive Nortento gang members arrested following assault (Salinas, CA): At least three active gang members are in custody after they assaulted someone at the Northridge Mall last month. Search warrants were issued at the homes of 27-year-old Bertin Medrano and three juveniles after officers with the Salinas Police Department's Violence and Suppression Task Force identified them as the suspects in the attack.
