AlabamaMontgomery fugitive captured in I-65 chase (Montgomery, AL): Police caught a murder suspect following a chase and crash along Interstate 65. The suspect, 23-year-old, was wanted for charges of capital murder in a drive-by shooting earlier this month at a store. A second 25-year-old suspect surrendered earlier.

CaliforniaShooting wounds valley teenager (Pacoima, CA): Police are looking for two suspects who wounded a 16-year-old boy during a drive-by shooting outside a Pacoima residence. The boy is expected to live, police said.

CaliforniaTeen wounded in drive-by shooting (North Hills, CA): A 17-year-old boy was wounded in a drive-by shooting as he sat on a bus bench with a friend in North Hills, police said. According to police, a car with two occupants drove by the victim and his friend, and one of the suspects started shooting. The boy's leg wound was not life-threatening.

CaliforniaDominguez shooting (East Rancho Dominguez, CA): A woman was fatally shot and three men wounded when a fight evolved into shots being fired at a liquor store in East Rancho Dominguez. The suspects left the victims after words were exchanged, but later returned and opened fire. The attack is being investigated to see if it was gang-related as the walls around the liquor store were marked with gang graffiti. According to authorities, one man was killed and three people wounded in a gang-related shooting at another liquor store a few nights earlier.

MassachusettsShots fired in Great Brook Valley (Worcester, MA): In Great Brook Valley, a housing project in Worcester, several shots were fired during a drive-by shooting that pierced through windows and a door, police said. No one was injured and the investigation is continuing.

TexasBrothers charged in shootings (Houston, TX): Police have arrested and charged two brothers in the May 2 drive-by shootings of two other brothers in the Acres Homes community. The 19-year-old was charged with murdering a 17-year-old, and the older brother, 20, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon for shooting the victim's brother.

CaliforniaWitnesses sought in teen's death (Sun Valley, CA): Authorities are investigating a possible gang-related shooting that left a 16-year-old girl dead. The girl was standing in front of her house talking with friends when a man walked up, fired several shots, and then fled in a car, police said. Police believe that the girl hung out with a North Hollywood gang and that she may have been a witness to a months-old murder case. No arrests have been made.

North CarolinaCity must act with unity against its gang problem (Durham, NC): The city of Durham, North Carolina, recognizes its problem with gangs, and city leaders, community members, and gang experts are working together to put a stop to this issue. The Durham Police Department's Gang Resistance Unit is addressing the problem through education, prevention, enforcement, and intervention. A comprehensive model, which would involve the community, is also being considered. In addition, the Durham Police Department, Durham County Sheriff's Office, and Durham Public Schools are bringing the Gang Resistance Education and Training program to the elementary and middle schools this fall.

OregonBullet hits classroom, no injuries (Portland, OR): A fight near an elementary school, involving roughly a dozen people from two groups, resulted in shots fired, authorities said. No injuries were reported as one bullet crashed through a classroom window and another struck the car of someone involved in the fight. Some witnesses are saying that the incident was gang-related, but authorities would not confirm that. A 20-year-old Portland man was arrested on charges of attempted assault and unlawful use of a weapon.

CaliforniaFour shot (Lynwood, CA): A 20-year-old was fatally shot, and three others, ages 20, 43, and 23, were wounded in a gang-related shooting, authorities said. The pedestrians were standing in front of a liquor store when a man from a rival gang approached them. Someone chased the man away, and five to ten minutes later, he returned with a handgun and opened fire. The gunman fled the scene.

ArkansasApparent drive-by injures two in Little Rock (Little Rock, AR): Two men, ages 46 and 28, were injured in an apparent drive-by shooting while standing outside a nightclub, police said. Both were in stable condition, and police have no suspects.

CaliforniaLennox Homicide (Lennox, CA): Police are investigating a gang-related drive-by shooting that killed a 17-year-old. Two men in a car pulled alongside three pedestrians and asked them about their gang affiliation. "Gunfire erupted from the vehicle," an officer said. A 20-year-old was also grazed by a bullet, and the third teen was not hurt. No information of the suspects or arrests was available.

WisconsinThree arrested over graffiti in Cudahy (Cudahy, WI): Police arrested a 19, 18, and 16 year-old after receiving 17 complaints of gang graffiti on garages and vehicles in Cudahy. The three males were taken into custody in connection with the incidents.

New MexicoFour held in Mother's Day brawl (Santa Fe, NM): Santa Fe police have four people in custody in connection with a brawl that occurred during a Mother's Day party. The fight started as an argument between youths at the party, but then the yelling escalated into a physical confrontation that involved weapons. Although police have not confirmed this incident as gang-related, some witnesses said that there were gang slogans exchanged during the altercation. A 16-year-old was shot and killed, and two other young men were stabbed during the fight.

According to reports, six shots were fired, and there were five possible suspects that fled the scene.

NevadaTwo men open fire outside Hard Rock Cafe (Las Vegas, NV): A few blocks from the Las Vegas strip, three people were injured as two men fired more than 30 shots outside the Hard Rock Cafe, witnesses and auhtorities said. "We don't know if it's gang-related, drug-related, or a beef between people," an officer said. The three victims' wounds were not life-threatening.

New YorkBrooklyn teenager shot to death (Bronx, NY): A 17-year-old teenager was shot to death after arguing with a man, police said. The victim was found gripping a gun and was later pronounced dead at a local hospital. Police are looking into the possibility of the shooting being gang-related.

GeorgiaSmile, taggers: You may be on graffiti camera (Gwinnett County, GA): Gwinnett police are trying out a new surveillance technique that will enable them to catch graffiti vandals. A camera will be concealed at various locations of the 200 in the county where graffiti has been painted. Suspects filmed will then be matched against Gwinnett Police Department's gang unit database of more than 1,800 gang members. "This is relatively new for us," said a spokesman for Gwinnett police. "We are trying to use any type of technology we can to combat the gang and graffiti issue."
