Rockland man charged for federal gun possesion for March incident in Hanover (Hanover, MA): Federal agents charged a Rockland man this week with a gun charge three months after Hanover police arrested and charged him with firearms and drug offenses. Agents charged Lamont Boswell, 35, with one count of felony possession of a firearm in interstate commerce, according to court documents filed by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

Crime Suppression Operation Nets 23 Arrest Including Two Minors In Santa Clarita (Santa Clarita, CA): Detectives with the Career Offenders, Burglary, Robbery and Assault (COBRA) Unit arrested 23 individuals Tuesday including two minors during a crime suppression operation, officials said. “After a successful operation Friday night, COBRA hit the streets again last night, going back to areas in the Santa Clarita Valley that gang activity had been reported in or gang members were said to be hanging out at,” said Shirley Miller, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

Police arrested Jerald Tucker, 37, for prohibited possession of firearms. Police say Tucker was a convicted felon and was not allowed to be in possession of firearms.

Santa Barbara County Grand Jury Eyes Regional Approach to Youth Gang Problem (Santa Barbara, CA): A countywide consortium should tackle the youth gang problem as one step to boost coordination between law enforcement officers, according to the Santa Barbara County Civil Grand Jury. New records show why you get labeled a gang member in San Diego County (San Diego, CA): Police are required to notify people they intend to list as gang members in a controversial state database, but local agencies aren’t required to keep records of these notifications. inewsource sought notification letters from seven law enforcement agencies in San Diego County through public records requests over the past eight months. Of 829 people added by those agencies to the CalGang database locally from 2017 through 2019, only about 350 letters have been turned over.

3 women shot, 1 fatally, at candlelight vigil for man killed in North Long Beach (Long Beach, CA): An investigation was underway this morning into a shooting near a candlelight vigil in Long Beach that killed one woman and left two other women hospitalized. Police received a call of shots fired in the area of Orange Avenue and South Street about 9 p.m. Monday and the 911 operator could hear gunshots in the background, according to Lt. Robert Bernsen of the Long Beach Police Department.
