City offers $75,000 for gang prevention (Visalia, CA): The Visalia Police Department reported last fall that gang violence is at a 20-year low in Visalia. And while its sworn officers deserve most of the credit, Chief Jason Salazar credits the partnerships and community involvement as the number one reason for the drop in gang related crime.

NC prison barber refused to shave gang members’ chests. Why he’s now suing the state (Raleigh, NC): In 2016, a prison barber in Warren County refused to shave his fellow inmates’ chests — a policy he kept to prevent gang tattoos. But this code got Tony Hill threatened by gang members in the prison and finally beaten up. He identified his attacker, then overheard the inmate’s promise: If Hill returned to general population, he would be stabbed.

Gang member identified as victim in Surrey shooting Sunday (Surrey, BC): Police have revealed the man slain in Surrey on Sunday night was 21-year-old Verron Nand. Nand, a young associate of the Brothers Keepers gang, was shot dead in Surrey on Sunday night and another man was left with serious injuries.

Members of Aryan Brotherhood Criminal Street Gang Arrested After Lengthy Investigation (Habersham County, GA): A several month-long illegal drug and criminal street gang investigation conducted by the ARDEO ended with two search warrants being executed at two residences in Habersham County, GA. Multiple arrests were made from Tennessee and Georgia for various drug charges, Racketeering Influence Corruption Organization Act (RICO), Violation of Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act, and firearm charges.
