Call for gang members to be prosecuted like mobsters (Providence, RI): The recent increase in suspected or confirmed gang violence in Providence, is prompting a new call for a crackdown. Republican State Senator Dawson Hodgson - who is running for Attorney General - wants the state's racketeering law - used for busting up organized crime, to now be used against gangs, too. As with the mob, a judge could declare a gang a criminal enterprise.

Providence police: Two gang members caught with drugs and gun (Providence, RI): Two alleged gang members were arrested after Providence police said they were riding around South Providence Monday with heroin and a handgun. The police gang unit had been watching the Colfax Street area because of an ongoing feud between the Throwback For Days street gang and the Trinitarios, who are connected with a house on that street, according to a police report.
